2017 News
January 5, 2017 BANC3's proposal for the development of improved optics has been selected by the Department of Defense Ordnance Technology Consortium to create a Small Advanced Weapon Sight (SAWS) which incorporates a miniature in-scope tactical display with a built-in real time ballistic calculator to reduce target engagement time, increase accuracy, and extend effective range. BANC3 understands that the necessity to provide immediate and accurate ballistic engagement solutions is critically important to the mission of our warfighters. The SAWS concept is to have uncompromising SWaP in the creation of advanced capabilities for a next generation tactical display scope. The SAWS design allows it to be effectively used over the entire battlespace and is designed to interoperate with night vision clip-on devices. It supports a tactical display that can effectively be dimmed to nighttime operational levels. The weapon sight is designed for small arms and can comfortably fit on the rear upper receiver Picatinny 1913 rail of an M4 rifle similar to the tactical scopes current in inventory today. The sigh can operate with and without a power source, falling back to a conventional direct view scope with zooming capabilities when no power is present." |
January 26, 2017 As one of the niche players in the Virtual and Augmented Reality (VR/AR) product arena, BANC3 is pleased to announce its win of the Army Small Business Innovative Research (SBIR) award for "Augmented Reality (AR)/Mixed Reality (MR/VR) for Live Fire Ranges" to meet the requirements of the U.S. Army Rifleman Marksmanship training. This continues BANC3's strong trend of successful contracts in the VR/AR sectors in both hardware and software development. Project work involves developing a see-through Augmented Reality (AR) protocol and prototype to create realistic simulated human avatar overlays on top of/in lieu of standard silhouette representations, as well as to replicate night/obscurant conditions (opaqueness) during live fire familiarization training. The proposed Head Mounted Display (HMD) will provide very accurate head tracking of the soldier with respect to the range environment, with a low encumbrance HMD design that does not change how a soldier would operate and shoot a rifle. The research will focus on the development of AR technology that supports range scanning with one eye and weapon sighting with the other. The AR technology will operate and support M4 and M16 weapon platforms utilizing various sights (iron, Red Dot, CCO, and ACOG). This will enable soldiers to shoot more rounds in a shorter amount of time, allowing more soldiers to train while improving retention and qualification rates. This award builds on BANC3's extensive research in this field and reaffirms its significant position in the HMD, Augmented/Virtual Reality sector. |
May 16, 2017 BANC3 is pleased to announce our selection as a prime contractor for the Department of the Army's $37.4 Billion Responsive >Strategic Sourcing for Services (RS3) contract. RS3, with a period of performance of 10 years, covers professional services for government programs with Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (C4ISR) requirements. RS3 primary service areas include Engineering; Research, Development, Test and Evaluation (RDT&E); Logistics; Acquisition and Strategic Planning; Education and Training Services. This award continues BANC3's strong trend of successful contracts for the Department of Defense C4ISR community, reinforcing its powerful ability to compete and provide professional services in a multitude of diverse areas. RS3 is the largest ID/IQ contract won by BANC3, building upon other wins with customers including US Army Communications Electronics Research and Development Engineering Center (CERDEC) Night Vision and Electronic Sensors Directorate (NVESD) WEBS, CECOM Software Engineering Center (SEC) SSES NexGen, CERDEC Command Power and Integration Directorate (CP&ID), and Armament Research, Development and Engineering Center (ARDEC) Tactical Mission Command Applications (TMCA). |
